About

Hi, I'm James! I love bringing products and brands to life through animation. Successfully crafting a delightful experience makes me happy.

Over the last decade, I’ve worked as a motion designer for a large list of clients and studios while also launching two of my own apps. My latest project went on to be a launch title for the newly released Apple Arcade. As a product focused motion designer with a wide range of experience operating in various roles, I’m an effective member of any team.

In 2016 I released my first app which was a music game for kids.  People seemed to like it and we even won some awards! In 2017, I then moved from NYC to California to work for Google.  Over that year at Google, I've focused on crafting motion languages for some of the company's most complicated products. In 2018, I joined the Visual Systems team at Facebook where I helped start a working group focused on designing and implementing the first motion system to be used across the product, bringing consistency to an extremely large platform. In 2019, a side project I was working on (Dodo Peak) got selected to be apart of the Apple Arcade launch! We were given the opportunity to assemble a small team and begin work on our game full-time. It was wild. In 2020, I re-joined Google’s Search and Assistant team as a UX designer to build some cool things. Stay tuned!

Ps. I also live a double life as a songwriter. If you are interested you can find my music under the alias Sonny Coda on various platforms.
